Brazilian hot-dogs aka 'cachorro quente' are like no other hot-dog - they are in a league of their own.
Hot-dogs as most of us know consist of a sausage in a hot-dog roll, sometimes with some fried onions on top and then generously drizzled with ketchup or mustard or ketchup and mustard. Simple, but tastes pretty good.
Brazilian hot-dogs though are jammed packed full of various ingredients - they are bursting with toppings and sauce and they put the typical barbaque hot-dog to shame.
A hot-dog in Brazil is a meal in itself and you'll usually be too full for seconds, although I have gone in for seconds...
These are great to serve at parties too. You can have a hot-dog station and the kids and adults will love it.
As with most hot-dogs the sausage is nothing special to write home about. It's a traditional American style processed sausage, which we all know isn't filled with the best of ingredients, yet we still love them.
The toppings make this hot-dog and here's what can be commonly found on the menu at hot-dog stands across Brazil;
Sweetcorn
Peas
Potato Sticks
Diced Ham
Mashed Potato to line the bun
Grated Cheese
Diced Tomato
Diced Peppers
Quail Eggs
Onions

INGREDIENTS
Hot dog sausages
Hot dog buns
Grated cheddar cheese
Sweetcorn
Potato Sticks (love these)
Fried onions
Mayonnaise
Ketchup
Mustard
METHOD
Simply boil as many hot dog sausages as you like. I use one per bun.
Slice the bun down through the middle, but not all the way.
Spread a layer of mayonnaise inside the bun and then add your hot dog.
Now for the fun part - add as much of the toppings as you like, but always top it off with the potato sticks. Now smother it in ketchup and mustard or your preferred sauce.
Prepare to get messy and enjoy - you'll never want a regular hot-dog again.
