Candied Walnut Christmas Mix - Homemade Edible Gift

Updated: Dec 4, 2023

Edible homemade Christmas Gifts are one of our favourite gits to receive and to give.

These candied walnuts are truly moreish and are a delicious treat to enjoy this festive season.

The candied walnuts make for a delicious snack by themselves, however we've added a few extra festive treats to make it an extra special snack to enjoy this Christmas.

The added dried cranberries, and white chocolate pair fantastically with the moreish candied walnuts, and we can't get enough.

You'll probably want to make extra to keep for yourself if your planning on gifting this recipe - it's SO GOOD!

Obviously you can tweak this recipe to suit yours or the recipients taste. You could swap or add in a mix of different nuts, or add or swap in different dried fruits. Also we're sure dark chocolate would taste amazing, too.

Let's crack on with this delicious Christmas gift idea.

INGREDIENTS

  • 2x cups of Walnuts (try to keep them whole or in halves)

  • 1/2 cup of Golden Granulated Sugar

  • 1/4 cup of Honey

  • 2x tbsp of Melted Butter

  • Pinch of Salt

Toppings

  • 1x cup of Dried Cranberries

  • 80g of White Chocolate - broken into roughly 1/2 cm squares.

METHOD

Preheat the oven to 180C and line a baking sheet with a silicone sheet.

Add the walnuts to the lined sheet and spread out. Now cover in the sugar, honey, salt and butter.

Using a silicone spatula gently toss the mixture around.

Once your oven has preheated go ahead and place the baking sheet on the top shelf of the oven and bake for 15 minutes.

Remove from the oven, give it a mix around with the spatula and leave to fully cool. If you use parchment paper instead of a silicone sheet, then you will have to remove the nuts from the sheet and transfer to a glass tray while the nuts are still hot, otherwise the parchment paper might stick to the nuts.

(I made this mistake, however its an easy fix. We just popped them back in the oven for a minute or two, and the sugar softened, allowing easy transfer)

Once the nuts have fully cooled, add the cranberries and chocolate, and evenly mix together.

Serve and enjoy or transfer to an airtight container.
