Cheesy Garlic Christmas Tree Pull-Apart Bread

Updated: Apr 1

I love pull-apart bread and I love garlic bread and so this is a combination of the two, albeit more festive!

With its fun Christmas tree shape it's sure to be a hit at any Christmas party.

They're also stuffed with cheese that melts in your mouth and are great dipped in a tomato-based sauce.

The bread is super light and oh so fluffy and the hit of fresh garlic and the cheeses is a marriage made in heaven... So, so good and super easy...

So without further ado, let's get on with this delicious recipe!

Happy Cooking!

INGREDIENTS

For the dough

  • 4x cups of plain flour

  • 1x egg

  • 1x tbsp of butter (room temperature)

  • 1x tbsp of caster sugar

  • 1x cup of warm water

  • 1x 10g sachet of fast activating yeast

  • pinch of salt

For the filling

  • 200g of your favourite melting cheese (such as a strong cheddar) cut into cubes

For the topping

  • 60g of butter

  • 3x large cloves of garlic (crushed and finely diced)

  • 1x tbsp of dried parsley

  • pinch of salt

METHOD

For the dough

In a mixing bowl add the water, sugar and yeast and whisk together well.

Leave for 5 minutes until frothy.

Add the flour and salt to the mixture and mix together in a freestanding mixer using a dough hook until combined.

Now add your egg and butter and knead in your freestanding mixer for 5 minutes.

Transfer the dough to a large bowl, cover and place it somewhere warm to rise for an hour (the mixture will double in size).

Preheat the oven to 180C now while you assemble your Christmas tree.

Take golf ball sized pinches of the dough and place it in your hand and flatten.

Place a cube of the cheese into the centre and then pinch and fold the edges of the dough over the centre of the cheese.

Roll into balls and place the folded side down on your lined tray and repeat until all the dough is used and you have created your Christmas Tree shape.

In a small pan add your butter, garlic and seasoning and fry on a medium heat until the butter has fully melted.

Remove from the heat and then pour it evenly over your dough. Be sure to scrape out all of the garlic and seasoning.

Place on the top shelf of the oven and bake for 20-25 minutes.

Serve and enjoy!

We like to serve ours fresh and warm from the oven and we serve it with a simple Marinara sauce to dip it into...
