INGREDIENTS

Makes 10- 12 fairly large Tortillas

  • 3x Cups of Plain Flour (plus extra for dusting)

  • 5x tbsp of Olive Oil

  • Large pinch of fine Sea Salt

  • 2x tsp of Baking Powder

  • 1x Cup of Hot Water

METHOD

In a large mixing bowl add all of the dry ingredients and mix together using a wooden spoon.

Now add your oil and hot water and combine together thoroughly.

Once fully combined, turn out onto a generously floured clean worktop.

Knead the dough until a smooth ball has formed - this may take a few minutes.

Ready divide the dough into 10 - 12 equal pieces and roll into balls.

At this point you can either place them back into the bowl and cover until ready to cook, or begin to cook them.

Once ready to cook them, roll out until nice and thin. Be sure to dust with flour on both sides and turn the dough as you roll.

Roll into circles (although ours are never perfect circles, but that's fine. It adds to the homemade charm).

Preheat a large frying pan or skillet and add a very small drizzle of olive oil. Once hot turn to a medium heat and place flat, your first tortilla.

Once air bubbles appear it's time to flip. Cooking time is approximately 30 - 40 seconds on each side.

The dough should have a few golden spots on each side.

Once cooked place inside a clean folded tea towel on a plate, and wrap to keep warm.

Repeat until all the Tortillas are cooked.

Serve and enjoy!
