Easy Homemade Gingerbread Syrup - Coffee & Cocktail Syrup

Updated: Nov 23, 2023

Homemade gifts are one of our absolute favourites, especially at Christmas.

Homemade gifts we think are extra special, extra thoughtful, and are totally customisable to suit anybody.

This easy homemade Gingerbread syrup is super easy to make, and would make a delicious gift, especially to those who love going to a coffee shop for those extra special coffees, and Frappuccinos.

The added warming spices give this homemade syrup a real taste of Christmas, and we absolutely love it.

This syrup is super easy to make and is even simpler to use in your favourite drinks. Simply add 1 tablespoon to your chosen drink, and enjoy.

It's best to keep in a sterilised glass jar or bottle, especially if your giving it as a gift, and it should keep fresh up to two weeks, if kept in the fridge.

If gifting then why not add a cute homemade lable, with what it is and how to use it. You could also add some ribbon or twine to give it an extra festive and special touch.

Let's crack on with the recipe...

INGREDIENTS

  • 1x cup of Water

  • 1 & 1/2 cups of Golden Granulated Sugar

  • 1 inch thumb piece of Fresh Ginger - peeled

  • 2x Cinnamon Sticks

  • 3x Cloves

  • 1x heaped tsp of Ground Ginger

  • 1x level tsp of Ground Nutmeg

  • 1x heaped tsp of Ground Cinnamon

  • 1x capful of Vanilla Extract

METHOD

Put all of the ingredients into a small saucepan and bring to a slight simmer.

Stir occasionally to prevent sugar from sticking and burning.

Simmer on a low heat for 4-5 minutes. By this time all of the sugar should have dissolved into the water.

Remove from the heat and allow to cool completely.

Once fully cooled, strain into a clean sterilised, airtight glass jar.

Store in the fridge for up to 2 weeks.

TO USE

Add a tbsp of the syrup to your coffee, frappes or festive cocktails, for a delicious sweet kick of gingerbread flavouring.
