Festive Cheese Balls

Updated: Apr 1

December's festive season is the perfect time to make a delicious Festive Cheese Board, loaded with your favourite cheeses, cured meats, chutneys, grapes, olives and seasoned crackers and biscuits...

What I love about a good cheese board is their ability to be entirely customisable and are super easy and oh so delicious...

Cheese boards are always a real pleaser in our household and not just at Christmas...

Cheese boards are enjoyed throughout the year and are customisable to suit the season or your mood.

The star of the show is obviously the cheese and with so many delicious cheeses to choose from it's hard to sometimes pick, however sometimes you just fancy something a little different and something to suit the season. That's where this recipe comes in.

These Festive Cheese Balls are full of Christmas flavours and their appearance screams Christmas too. Totally customisable to suit your taste, however we opted for ruby coloured cranberries and delicious walnuts.

These are super easy to make, in-fact they can be made well in advance and stored in the fridge. Perfect when your rushed off your feet with the other 101 things you have to do during the festive season.

These little balls of cheesy festive joy are great to slice and spread on your favourite cracker, biscuit or crusty loaf.

Lets get into the recipe...

Happy Cooking!

INGREDIENTS

  • 200g Cream cheese

  • 180g Grated cheddar cheese

  • large pinch of salt & pepper

  • 1x tbsp of dried parsley

  • 60g chopped walnuts

  • 60g Dried cranberries

METHOD

In a large mixing bowl add your cream cheese, cheddar and seasoning. Combine together well with a spoon and then cover and place in the fridge for at least 1 hour.

In the meantime you can prepare your nuts and cranberries. Place them into a large shallow bowl or plate and put to one side.

Once you remove your cheese mixture from the fridge go ahead and take a small amount of the mixture and using your hands roll it into balls. You're looking for balls roughly the size of golf balls.

When you've formed your balls, place them in the nut and cranberry mixture and roll them until evenly covered in the toppings.

Pop them onto a plate and place them back in the fridge for at least 1 hour or over night.

Serve and enjoy. These are perfect as part of a cheese board or appetizer. We love them spread on our favourite crackers or spread on to some fresh crusty bread.
