Frozen Whipped Cream Hot Chocolate Toppers - Fun Christmas Kitchen Craft

Updated: Nov 26, 2023

If you're looking for a super quick, delicious and fun craft to do in the kitchen this Christmas, then look no further.

These homemade Frozen Whipped Cream Toppers are a perfect addition to any hot chocolate this Christmas.

We don't know about you, but we find it super annoying when you go to the extra effort of making a fancy hot chocolate with all the added extras, and before you sit down to enjoy your first sip, the sides of your mug are overflowing with melted whipped cream.

A wet, sticky mess - yuck!

Well this my friend, is an easy fix - Frozen Whipped Cream Hot Chocolate Toppers...

They're super quick, fun, delicious, and totally customisable.

We kept ours fairly simple, and went with some added mini marshmallows, and star sprinkles, for an added touch of Christmas cheer.

There's so many added touches and flavours you could give your Whipped Cream Toppers. How about;

  • Chocolate Whipped Cream, with some edible golden glitter or sprinkles.

  • Add a touch of vanilla or peppermint to your cream.

  • Sprinkle your cream with some crushed up candy cane.

  • Add a black cherry and drizzle with chocolate sauce, for a taste of, 'black forest gateaux '.

  • Something for the adults - add a dash of Baileys or brandy to the cream.

A fun and quick craft that your little ones or basically anyone will enjoy doing. I mean, who doesn't enjoy a nice big hot mug of hot chocolate, with all the trimmings, especially at Christmas time.

You could simply use squirty cream from a can, or if you're like us and it's hard to get a hold of, then simply add some regular cream to a mixer, and whisk.

We find it best to make these in a silicone cupcake tray, or individual silicone cupcake cases. If you do not have these, then we would suggest lining a regular cupcake tray with some clingfilm, and then add your cream. This should help make it easier to remove from the moulds when frozen.

There's no setrecipe for these toppers, however as a guide we used 300g of cream, and once whipped up, that made enough for 6 toppers. The amount of added toppings is up to you.

These hot chocolate toppers are fantastic to keep stocked in the freezer over Christmas, and the cooler months, and will help make your hot chocolates a touch more special.

Simply make your hot chocolate as normal, and then remove one of your toppers from the freezer, and carefully place it on top. It will slowly melt, allowing you to thoroughly enjoy your hot chocolate without the added mess of overflowing cream, before you even sit down.

*A word of warning though. Do not fill your mug to full with hot chocolate, else it will overflow when adding your topper - 1 guess on how I know 😂

If you make this Christmas Kitchen Craft, we hope you enjoy it as much as we do. And please, don't forget to tag us and share your pictures on Instagram. We love seeing what you've created.
