Tacos are for sure a family favourite in our household. In-fact most Mexican, Tex-Mex recipes are. However, sometimes when we're in the mood for tacos we go to grab our sachet of store bought seasoning, and its all gone. It used to be very frustrating, until that is, we created our own home-made taco seasoning mix, and let us tell you, its better than any packet seasoning we bought.
In our opinion home-made is always better. Not only does it tend to taste better, but you know and control all the ingredients used in it.
We enjoy a smoky flavour, with a little kick to our taco seasoning, and if you like that, too, then hopefully you should enjoy this Taco Spice / Seasoning Mix also.
The measurements listed below are for a single serving. However, what we tend to do is make it in batches. We quadruple all of the ingredients, and store it in an airtight spice jar. That way, we know we always have enough Taco Seasoning Mix whenever the Taco Mood strikes. No more store bought taco seasoning for us.
If you do decide to make it in bulk, then be sure to store it in a container that has enough room in it to allow you to give it a good shake before each use. Every time you use it, you want all the flavours to be evenly distributed.
Another little recommendation is to always give your taco veggies, or meat a squeeze of fresh lime juice. It really helps to bring the spice flavours alive.
