Mamma's Easy Meatballs - grain-free

This is our recipe for our, Easy Grain-free Meatballs, and it's quickly becoming a family favourite at dinner time.

Deliciously seasoned meatballs, with no added breadcrumbs or egg, and served with a simple, yet flavourful tomato sauce.

We love the combination of the meatballs, tomato sauce, and large fine slices of sautéed sweet onions.

To keep it grain-free we like to serve it with a side of Quinoa, but for those, not avoiding grains, its delicious served with pasta, rice, or in a sub roll.

The perfect comforting dinner recipe, especially during the cooler nights of Autumn & Winter.

  • 2x large pinches of Sea Salt & Cracked Black Pepper

  • 1x heaped tsp of Sweet Paprika

  • 2x heaped tsp of Oregano

  • 2x heaped tsp of Garlic Powder

  • 2x tbsp of Olive Oil for frying

For the sauce

  • 1x large Onion - halved and finely sliced (you want large fine slices)

METHOD

In a large bowl add the beef mince along with all the meatball seasonings.

Using your hands mix & squash the herbs evenly into the mince.

Divide into approximately 27 evenly sized meatballs.

Preheat the oil in a large frying pan or skillet, and once hot, reduce to a medium heat and add the meatballs, evenly spaced.

Cook on all sides until browned.

Once all sides are browned go ahead and add in the large thin slices of onion, and diced garlic.

Sauté the onions until soft and then add the tomato puree, and balsamic vinegar. Mix together.

Add the water, along with some salt & pepper and stir.

Bring to a simmer and cook for approximately 15-20 minutes, or until the sauce has thickened. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking or burning.

Serve and enjoy!

For a grain-free alternative we like to serve our meatballs with a side of Quinoa.
